Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef personality. She was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host who has spiky blond wigs and a pumped-up personality, explains how to cook restaurant-style dishes at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell has worked in some of the top restaurants in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy and competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell is a native of the Upstate and grew up in New York State's Upstate, developed an early passion for cooking. After obtaining an English and Communication diploma at Canisius College in Buffalo NY she was able to pursue her love of the business of restaurant by enroling as a student at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was the place where I experienced my most memorable time in my life. The Culinary Institute of the Americas was a fantastic place to study. Following graduation, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in the Umbrian restaurant La Taverna del Lupo as well as Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, which is a Michelin-starred establishment. When she was in Italy, Chef Burrell acquired an appreciation for and appreciation for Italian culinary traditions. This had an enormous influence on her perception of food. Burrell serves on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of struggling children. She also is an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation's Celebrity Advocate where she has a mission to raise awareness for young diabetics. As a guest speaker and mentor, she travels around the U.S. to share her love for cooking and profession. Anne has, through her whole cooking journey, has said that it is a privilege to be in a position to be able to share this love of the food industry with people.
